when i was killing RAAM, i stayed in the light but the kryll STILL get me, WTF?

i ducked behind the first short wall and threw grenades to disperse the krylls around him and began shooting Raam directly in the head with my sniper rifle. When I ran out of grenades I just keep using the sniper rifle and eventually I brought him down. It took about 15 bullets and he just stood there and took them.
