I just got the spider sword and the birds flew up to the ledge above e. How do I get up there or where is it that I should go now?

Maybe lol that sounded strange. OK I got the spider sword and walked thru the halls. Fought the guards with the lady in black and then went to a place where birds joined to make a person, i fought it and then they flew up on a ledge above me. What my question is, is whats nxt. Ive looked all over to find a place to get uo there but cant jump from the strair to the ledge. HELP!!
