actually i would prefer to have a good relationship (of course) next i would suggest on finishing at least 2 careers (i did it with jock & mad scientist) to unlock malcolms mansion the 2 careers is to really impress him/her now satisfy his/her needs (mine needed food,fun,& comfort) and most importantly he/she has to be in good mood (this parts a hard one coz' ya can't see his/her mood)
