I found out that this version of the level select cheat works more often that the other one.

When you first start the game and are at the main menu, with the NEW LOAD and OPTIONS selections, enter options and enter the cheat "ONTHELEVEL".
It should say level select enabled.
Then exit that menu and continue to the main menu. Highlight NEW and press select and start at the same time. This will enter the level select screen. It took me a while to figure out how to get this code working, but I did it. It works. I beleive you can also enter the louisiana secret level from this level select screen. All levels starting with LA are Louisiana, etc., for levels like ARgentina, and the CAstle.
