i can't get yoshi to drop down to the underground musroom with me in episode 5 of pianta village

Go to the bridge where you began, go to Mario's left hand side, jump over the side to a mushroom, then jump from mushroom to mushroom till you get to the flat platform, then let Yoshi spray the yellow thing.
